Let me Butt in…

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

I’m hearing about a surge in a cosmetic procedure.  People paying 20 thousand bucks to get their butts lifted.  People!  Are you kidding me?  You don’t have to be a presentation consultant to say one word to those thinking they’re in need of some excising and pushing up back there.

Exercise!  It’s the feel good feel right tuck it in way to go.  Whether you run, bike, walk, swim, lift weights, play tennis, the list goes on.  That would be the less expensive less scary way to go?  That’s all I’m gonna say.  I’m still getting over hearing about this kind of money being spent on perceived excess baggage.

Differentiation is key in any Economy

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

I recently Tweeted on Twitter about how powerful presentation can help people differentiate in this economy.  Then I got to thinking and talking with a financial advisor client at her session this week.  In ANY economy, differentiation is key.  That means powerful performance is always a place to set your sights.

Double- and triple-proofing e-mails and letters.  Making sure every slide in your Power Point is grammatically correct.  Ensuring you have no flashes or blips in any video presentation.  These are a few of the things you can and must do to first showcase you have credibility.  I’d call these things basic presentation items on your check list.

To move into truly WOW!-ing your audience…with goals of standing out…that’s the fun part.  Get creative and let your personality come out.  Use interactives, humor, unusual old footage that will hit home your points.

Yes my friends, no matter how much is in your pocket or in the national bank account, those who care about powerful performance will differentiate themselves among the pack in any industry and end up successful.

Tip of the Day: Laugh it Up

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Humor…It’s your friend.  If you’re funny, don’t be afraid to bring out that side of yourself when you present.  If you’re not so funny naturally, can you learn a joke and deliver it?

When you entertain you help people retain the information you’re presenting.

So laugh it up.  Or at least laugh on the inside, and it will come through in a brighter delivery.

Guest Blog: Make your style a WOW!

Monday, July 6th, 2009

I’m pleased to introduce professional image consultant Cindy Rae of Raediant Cindy Rae as July’s Guest Blogger.  Cindy Rae helps people fine-tune their looks in order to Present their Best personal styles.

Clients always ask me what will make the biggest impact on how they are perceived.  Where should I start?

While the ultimate goal is to create your own personal, polished style from head to toe; your face and in particular your eyes are a top priority.

First, it’s all about eyebrows.  Get them shaped properly.  Visiting a professional to wax, tweeze, or thread at least the first time will ensure your brows are even, frame your eyes, and give your face a more symmetrical look.  Men absolutely need to groom/tame their brows (think Albert Einstein) as well.

Next, realize make-up is a girl and boy’s best friend.  Don’t get me wrong.  I’m not advocating full on make-up for men too; but a little bit of help can go a long way.  An even skin tone with the right amount of healthy color puts the focus on your eyes and what you are saying…not the red blotches, undereye circles, or occasional blemish.  It is the rare person over twenty who can go without at least a little powder or concealer.

Finally, don’t let yourself get stuck in a decade, whether it be hairstyle, make-up, or clothing.  Stay current to remain relevant.

For more professional tips, check out www.raediantcindyrae.com.  I’ve had many terrific make-up artists do my make-up.  But I will say no one does my eyes quite like Cindy Rae.  E-mail:  roshini@roshinimedia.com or Tweet http://twitter.com/RoshiniR your ideas.

Congratulations to client Steven Snyder for getting some great ink and air this Spring and Summer.

The BBC interviewed him for an hour-long piece on infertility.  He also got ink in German and Costa Rican print publications during June.

As I blog, he’s heading back to the USA from Europe where he gave a talk about this dynamic area of health and law.
